The Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theater has gone on tour in Israel and will perform Mozart’s opera “Marriage of Figaro” at the Israeli Opera Theater in Tel Aviv from November 4 to 15.

Eleven performances are planned. Two teams of singers are scheduled to be used and the opera’s choir, orchestra, costumes and decorations have also been sent from Vilnius to Tel Aviv. This is one of the biggest tours in recent times for the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theater.

Conductor Martynas Staškus will conduct the opera with director’s assistant Jūratė Sodytė helping adapt the work for the stage.

The National Opera and Ballet Theater’s best and favorite opera singers are scheduled to perform, including Sandra Janušaitė, Kostas Smoriginas, Joana Gedmintaitė, Dainius Stumbras, Tadas Girininkas, Eugenijus Chrebtovas, Ona Kolobovaitė, Regina Šilinskaitė, Liudas Mikalauskas, Julija Stupnianek, Rafailas Karpis, Mindaugas Jankauskas, Egidijus Dauskurdis, Laima Jonutytė, Marta Lukošiūtė, Dovilė Kazonaitė, Jurgita Lopetaitė and Lina Dambrauskaitė.

Figaro premiered at the National Opera and Ballet Theater in 2010. The opera was staged by a team from Spain, including director Emilio Sagi, scenographer Daniel Bianco, costume artist Renata Schussheim (from Argentina), light-artist Eduardo Bravo and choreographer Nuria Castejón. The choir director was Česlovas Radžiūnas. It is a joint production of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theater, the Royal Theater of Madrid, the Teatro Pérez Galdós de Las Palmas of the Canary Islands and the „Asociación Bilbaína de Amigos de la Opera.

This is the second trip the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theater has made to Israel. In 2008 they staged eight performances of Strauss’s Salome at the same theater in Tel Aviv. These performances received much attention from the Israeli audience and in the press.

Currently the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theater and the Israeli Opera Theater have one production in common. Jules Massenet’s opera Manon premiered at the opening of the 2015-2016 season in Vilnius. It is a joint production by the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theater, the Israeli Opera Theater and the San Francisco Opera.
