Israel’s Channel 9 Russian-language television reported the death of legendary songstress Nechama Lifšicaitė at 90 in Tel Aviv last week as the death of the symbol of Soviet Jewish aliyah. Aliyah is the process of return of Jews to their historical homeland in Palestine.
