Pension payments available to additional holocaust victims following negotiations

Recent negotiations with the German government have allowed the Claims Conference to expand eligibility for pension programs. According to these criteria, eligible for Claims Conference pensions may be Jewish Holocaust survivors who were in: (i) Concentration camps; or (ii) Ghettos for at least 3 months; or (iii) Hiding for at least 6 months without access to the outside world, or lived under false identify for at least 6 months, in Nazi-occupied territory.

Fourth World Litvak Congress

The Jewish Community of Lithuania has a pleasure and a privilege to invite you to The Fourth World Litvak Congress, which will be held here in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, from 22nd of September to 25th of September, 2013. The event will bring together natives and descendants of Jews from the Litvak lands, which coincide with modern Lithuania, and also Belarus, Latvia, northeastern Poland and much more. The Congress will among its many activities commemorate the seventieth anniversary of the liquidation of the Vilna Ghetto in 1943.

Victory Day

The Lithuanian Jewish Community and the Vilnius Jewish Community send you their best regards and congratulations on the 67th Victory Day, the anniversary of the day fascism was defeated in World War II. We invite you to attend an evening event called “And the Liberated World Remembers...” at 4 PM, May 8, 2012, at the Jascha Heifetz Hall on the third floor at the Lithuanian Jewish Community building at Pylimo street no. 4, Vilnius.

The program for the event consists of two parts. The first part is a ceremony to honor World War II veterans followed by a concert, and admission to this is free. The second half of the program is a dinner with veterans (in the White Hall on the first floor), and you must buy tickets to attend this. The cost of one ticket is 35 litas. Reserve a place and get a ticket by 3 PM on May 7, please, in office 307 on the third floor.

    Everyone interested in learning how to cook traditional Jewish dishes and in finding out more about traditions of preparation and the special characteristics of Jewish cuisine is invited to attend the series of seminars called Jewish Cuisine. Topics: May 24, 2013 -- Traditional Jewish matzo dishes -- matzo cakes. The seminars are on Fridays in the White Hall on the first floor of the Lithuanian Jewish Community, Pylimo 4, Vilnius.
